December 26, 2020 Celebrated Christmas here in South Padre Island. Unbelievable wind of 48 miles an hour. RV was rocking all night. Had to pull one slide in about 4 am. Couldn't sleep because of the noise.   There were lots of palm tree branches laying around the park after the wind storm. Looking for the best shells. I look better when you can't see me:) Junk on the beach on the hunt Stumps sticking out of sand. They call it the UFO. Printed on its side is Nude Beach. This thing that is maybe 10 foot in diameter was about 200 feet closer to the water last year. We did see one nude, 60-something year old guy, on the beach getting his fishing gear ready. (Diane didn't get a picture) More junk. These are huge buoy markers that have washed ashore.  Along with all the other trash you can find, and there is a lot. Buddy loves rolling in the sand face first. Dinner at Pier 19 next to campground this past week. We saw two dolphins swimming as we looked out the window. this family

South Padre Island, TX

December 19, 2020 We made it to South Padre Island last Sunday. Beautiful day when we arrived. Mid 70's. Three other Entegra Coach RV'ers whom we attended the Spartan Academy last August were here waiting for us when we arrived. Great to see them all again. We said our hellos then headed to our site to get set up.  They had to trim the tree before I could get set up. Glad I am not the Safety Director here. It was about 4PM when we finished getting everything set and headed over to Bob & Susan's coach. Bob & Lisa and Ginny were already there. It was like we never left Spartan as our conversations echoed that of friends that have been together for some time. A few cocktails and a lot of laughs and all of a sudden it was time to head back to the RV.  This was our Spartan Academy Group. (l-r, Ken, Diane, Dave, Bob and Susan Watson, Ginny Anderson, Juan Rubio, Laura and Bart Skrbic, Lisa and Bob Saldeen) David, Juan, Laura and Bart could not make the trip to SPI Monday

December 8, 2020 We have been here for 5 days, relaxing. Had to made a run to Corpus Christie to pick up a new coffee maker on Sunday. Just one more thing to add to the list of things that can go wrong. I am still waiting for the brake controller parts. Hopefully they will come today so I can get that installed on the Jeep.  There is a nice walking trail around the park of 1.5 miles so we have been doing that almost every day. We took Buddy on it this weekend but I ended up carrying him part of the way as there were just too many sand spurs getting caught in his paws. On the trail there is a Pet Cemetery  Lot of sunshine this week with temperatures reaching mid to upper 70's.   You asked how relaxing it is? Well enough that I have time to video ants :)

Mathis, TX

December 6, 2020 We left Waco, TX on the 4th and made our way to Mathis which is just north of Corpus Christie, TX. But before leaving Waco we drove around "Chip & Jo's" Magnolia Market. People were parked a block away. It is a big complex. Just outside of Mathis, we are staying at the Wilderness Lakes RV Resort for 9 days then headed to South Padre Island. We drove around Mathis today, per capital income must be low as many of the homes are run down and in need of repair. This park has 162 sites many of which are permanent residents, some living here year round, others just show up in the winters months but lease all year.  Travel so far has been good except coming through Dallas and Austin where there is a lot of construction going on. Most highway traffic was light except by the big cities. Hwy 69 sucks as there are many potholes.  My parts for the tow brake controller for the Jeep should arrive early next week, so I will be spending some time bent over on the flo

And we are off once again.

November 30, 2020 Saturday morning, we finished packing the RV and hooked up the Jeep for our 2020 trip south. It was 7:10 am when we headed out the driveway. As I expected, traffic was light believing that most travelers were not headed home until Sunday from the long Thanksgiving holiday. We planned to get through St. Louis, MO and did, ending up in Villa Ridge, MO. We made about 450 miles. We stayed at the Pin Oak Creek RV Park: a big park but gravel drives and campsites. Good for one night.                                                             Tank outside VFW hall in Wagoner, OK           Eagle must have been hurt and was being rehabbed in cage at Sequoyah State Park.   Sunday was a big difference on the highway as the traffic was heavy with semis and cars. It was an overcast day with some light rain. We made a couple of stops for lunch and fuel. Had a chance to use my EFS fuel discount card, which pulls from your checking account. So far so good.  We were looking for a COE
