February 15, 2021 We have been at the Pedido Key RV & Marina Resort since February 9th. There is a sand beach right outside our front window and we have sat on the beach for a total of maybe 2 hours. The weather has not  cooperated. We have had a lot of rainy days this past week and colder temperatures.  We have hooked up with Dale and Judy  for dinner a few nights. Gary & Patty (Judy's sister & husband) along with Cindy and Larry ( Judy's sister and her boyfriend) have joined us also.  This was taken at the Sunliner Diner, which looks like a 50s diner. Sunliner Diner , the waitresses even wear 50s outfits This was the "Hangout". Huge place in Alabama (where Dale & Judy stay)  The DJ station is covered with Pez Dispensers. The place is big and when Mardi Gras is in full swing Dale said this place is packed. Outside they have multiple places for bands to set up.  Cindy, Patty & Judy OLD FRIENDS Diane & Cindy Lunch boxes and Matc...

February 7, 2021 We have been at Bay St. Louis RV Park in Bay St Louis, Mississippi for almost two weeks now. The weather has been up and down with several nights going down to 32 degrees. Most days in the 60's but several made it out of the 40's. Tried out my drone but it was a little windy. It got away from me once and landed in a swampy wooded area next to the park. It was maybe 75 feet in the air before I could react and hit the kill switch. Luckily it is still working.  Bay St Louis is right on the coast and there are many beautiful homes and plenty of restaurants in the area. Some are a bit more expense than others, if you think $15 is to much for a hamburger. The wine was good though.  We heard that the Silver Slipper Casino had a lunch buffet for $6 on Tuesday so we took a chance. Turns out it was $13 but we stayed anyway. They had 4 or 5 different types of food from Asian to Southern to Italian plus all the salad and desert you could eat. The food was great, we ...

January 27, 2021 Well it had been an interesting stay at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park in Missouri. We were OFF the GRID. No cell or internet service for 5 days. If we needed to call or receive a call we needed to head to Lafayette 30 miles away. We made the trip several time as we went shopping. The park was secluded next to the bayou and rivers. We did not see any alligators as they said it was still to cool. It rained one night and so there was a lot of water standing in the campground. RV site were a bit elevated otherwise we would have been under water.    Other than on Friday and Saturday, the park was mostly empty. On Friday a group of families came in together. They stayed in tents and it rained the one night. It did not seem to bother them (they were much younger than us). Glad I gave up tent camping long ago, Got to have my glass of scotch after getting set up.   Sitting on this deck overlooking the water there were little gecko crawling around watchi...

January 19, 2021 We have been in Galveston for a week now, leaving tomorrow for Lafayette, Louisiana. We will be staying at a Lake Fausse State Park for 5 days before heading out again. As we drove from South Padre Island to Galveston we went through San Benito, home town of Freddy Fender, for those old enough to remember him.                                        Board Walk, downtown Galveston this was set up on the sidewalk near the Market Place section of Galveston. As we walked around the Market Place, we came across a Railroad Museum. Manny old pieces of Railroad history.  What was nice about this museum was that you could climb aboard. Luxury car, cat followed us around for a bit. Restroom in certain car rooms. I am sure it was 1st class. Sleeper Car. Interesting how things folded up and out of the way until you needed to use. Post Office car where mail was sorted. The o...
