Well it had been an interesting stay at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park in Missouri. We were OFF the GRID. No cell or internet service for 5 days. If we needed to call or receive a call we needed to head to Lafayette 30 miles away. We made the trip several time as we went shopping. The park was secluded next to the bayou and rivers. We did not see any alligators as they said it was still to cool. It rained one night and so there was a lot of water standing in the campground. RV site were a bit elevated otherwise we would have been under water.

Other than on Friday and Saturday, the park was mostly empty. On Friday a group of families came in together. They stayed in tents and it rained the one night. It did not seem to bother them (they were much younger than us). Glad I gave up tent camping long ago,

Got to have my glass of scotch after getting set up.

Sitting on this deck overlooking the water there were little gecko crawling around watching us.

We are now in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi for 15 days. The RV park is 4 miles from the ocean and the Port of Bay St. Louis. We drove there to check it out and it is a beautiful area with white sand beaches and magnificent homes along the shore. We did find a few for sale for $1.3 and $1.2 million.

There are many restaurants in Old Town. We stopped at the Painted Tiger for a bloody merry. Life is Good :-)

There are several tree carvings along the ocean walkway.

The one above is called the Angel Tree. In the early 1900s Ovenia de Montluzin looked out her window and saw workers starting to take down this oak, a sapling at the time to clear the a way for de Montluzin Avenue. She successfully got them to stop. At that time, the tree stood 225 feet west. On the morning of Aug. 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina came in destroying the house, which was now Bay Town Inn, killing 4 of the 7 people in there. These three survivors managed to get to this tree once the tidal surge washed away the home, holding on for several hours, until the eye passed and they were able to find shelter for the night. Years later the tree was carved and moved to the current location.

There are three other campers from Wisconsin here at the Bay Hide Away Resort. We have come across someone from Wisconsin at each of our stops.

While here we have stopped at several Pawn shops. Diane checks out the jewelry and I look at the guns. Neither of us have purchased anything. I can tell you there are few guns around and no ammunition. I have also stopped at several gun shops on this trip and most stores may have a half dozen guns, mostly shotguns.  I see House Bill 5717 will restrict sales and add more taxes to any purchase in the future if passed. No matter what they say it will not curb violence. Bad guys will always find a way to arm themselves. (The previous was a paid political announcement) .
