Spring 2026

To recap:

We left Kewaskum on  February 15th. I know it is late for us but there was an 8 lb 1 oz reason named EMMA born to Tara and Tristan on January 30th. Isn't she simply beautiful.

The first day of our trip took us 500 miles to Eagleville, Missouri for an overnight stay. We were the only ones in the Campground. The 500 miles went like a breeze with little or no traffic most of the way. More than I can say for the next few days.

On Monday it was off to our next stop 347 miles away in Claremore, Oklahoma, another overnight-er.  We encountered high winds most of the day making it very strenuous but still average speed of about 64 miles per hour. We stayed at the Will Rogers Downs KOA right next to the horse track. Diane was in heaven and sat watching the horses for hours. We got a decent night sleep and headed out in the morning about 8 am.

Tuesday we headed to Shamrock, Texas. At the campground we got everything set up with the sides out and jacks down only to have to pull 2 of the slides in facing the wind. They said wind gust of 55 miles per hour. It rocked the RV all night. Because we could not push the bed slide out, Diane slept cross-ways on the bed and I on the recliner couch. We were here for 2 days and did manage to push the bed slide out the next evening. But the wind was a steady 30 miles per hour.

The funny thing about Shamrock, Texas was we actually stayed at this campground in April of 23 and toured the small city of Shamrock. It is home to the gas station you can see in the Cars Movie. If you search our blog from back then you can see all the pictures we had taken.

Leaving Shamrock we headed to Tucumcari, New Mexico. Wind pushing us all over the road. Top speed 60 miles per hour. It was only 300 miles but I was beat when we finally got there. We are here 3 days then off to Gallup, Mew Mexico on the west side of the state.

We drove through town yesterday taking some pictures and doing some grocery shopping. The town sits on Route 66 and like many of the towns on Route 66, much is run down and vacant. This is common along the entire Route.

Airplane coming out of a room.

All vacant

1959 for sale

There are murals all around town.
