WOW, we have been home for almost a week now, how time fly's.

We spent our last two weeks in Moab, Utah April 8-22nd hitting the trails. We signed up and completed three trails with the Easter Jeep Safari group. Two trails were rated 3 and one rated 4. I think all could have been rated 4. We did scrape bottom a number of times on each safari . 

The last trail had a hill to climb called "Again and Again" consisting of loose rock and rocky ledges. I had the Jeep in 4 wheel drive with the wheel locker set to get over one huge step. I was dragging my bottom. Once over that step you had to wait for the next Jeep just in case you needed to winch them over. Only happen with one vehicle.

The trail took us to an overlook of the Colorado River and other scenic views including the cave below. We met a lot of nice Jeepers along the way and had a wonderful time on the trails.

 We did set out several time by ourselves taking the back way into Arches National Park. We stopped at Tower Arch and hike for about 45 minutes leaving Buddy in the Jeep. He prefers the Jeep over hiking as most of the time we have to drag him along on the leash.

 We did take a drive to Dead Horse Point State Park. Beautiful overlook of the valley below.

 We also travel down Long Canyon road, a dirt road working it way down the canyon wall which seem to be layer after layer of stone or sediment over thousand of years.

After Moab it was time to head her on home, we stayed at 3 different KOA's and took 4 days of driving. We spent 134 days away from home and it feels good to be back.

 December 20, 2024 We have been in Study Butte for a week now and have enjoyed every minute. The weather has held at 75 degrees daily with lows at night about 45. We do have to turn the heat on early morning and air conditioning in the late afternoon but we can handle that. We spent a day in Big Bend National Park on Tuesday. It was a 25 mile dirt and rock road within the park that took us 4 hours to complete. We did meet two motorcycles and two trucks on the route coming from the opposite direction.  We ended up backing up for about 1/4 mile and hugging the side of a hill to let the two trucks pass.  It was a 35 mile drive to the trail and 50 miles after the trail to get back to our campsite. Yesterday we drove back to Alpine, TX to pick up a prescription for Diane, get the Jeep washed and pick up some groceries. This is a 80 mile trip one-way.  February 6, 2025 We arrived at our campsite near Lake Powell on Saturday. Brand new campground connected to the marina.  Diane said it looked like a golf course with all the green artificial turf. Facing the mountains with beautiful views all around. Boat storage below campground. Flat bottom boats up to 100 feet long and 24 foot wide.   On Tuesday we took a short drive into Page, AZ and on to the Carl Hayden Visitor center by Glen Canyon Dam & Bridge. Similar to the Hoover Dam it is massive. You cannot walk across the dam like at Hoover but you can walk on the bridge to get great shots and view of the dam.  This guy is either cutting grass or scraping up the algae on the surface above the generators at the bottom of the dam.  Glen Canyon dam If you are standing on the bridge when a semi goes by everything shakes.  March 22, 2025 This passed Sunday we ventured out into the mountains to find the Skylight Arch. After a few miles of dirt road and a mile hike we stumbled upon this gaping hole in the mountain with a arch on the far side. Quite a site but if you walked 50 feet to the left  you may not see it at all. You can walk across the arch, which I had to do.   Great view from here. We had to drag Buddy as he doesn't want to hike most of the time. The only time he moves faster is when he knows we are heading back the way we came. You don't want to misstep around here. There is always interesting rock formation to view.  You can see forever, snow capped mountain in the background.  Next we headed to west of Kanab about 1.75 hours from our campsite to hike the Belly of the Dragon.
