Well it has been an interesting week since we left home. The RV electrical problems that plagued me while at home continued as we made our way south. I had replaced the Inverter/Charger the day before we left and thought everything was working fine. However, that was short lived. On a daily basis the 12 volt system would shut down leaving us without power for heat, hot water and lights. Could not get water to flush the toilets but we did have 120 volt power to run the space heaters we had along.
We only stayed a day at the first three stops and each time we encountered problems with the electrical system. This meant pulling a number of items out from under the coach and crawling inside to check and reset the inverter. I looked at and checked everything from wiring to fuses and breakers. Nothing seemed wrong, which was frustrating.
On our third day, I was able to reach out to Entegra Customer Service but they did not have any answers and would have to research the problem and get back to me, still waiting.
We did notice that if we started the generator when we lost 12 volt power we could get it back shortly. It always seemed that the batteries did not hold a charge and the inverter did not work through it cycles. We did have a day and a half without problems and was hoping things corrected itself, but one night when we flushed the electrical toilet all the lights went out.
We did stay for 2 days around Fredericksburg, TX and one mile from Luckenbach, TX. We spent an afternoon listening to country music and a short story by Walt Perryman (the "poet of Luckenbach") and had a few beers. Always a relaxing time there.
We are on day 8 and we have had three days without incident. I monitor the system consistently to watch for fluctuations in the charging. Keep your fingers crossed.
We came into this RV Park (Road Runner RV Park) on Friday the 13th, only one gremlin and one issue that day. This is the first time in this Park and we really like it. Lot of room, clean and well maintained. We have a nice spot with a huge open area next to us. It is sand and gravel but that is what you get in this part of Texas.
We took several short trips looking to see what had changed in the area since last year and there is more mini houses in the area. This entire area is built on sand but mostly stone so houses are small 2 room places. Some quite cute. The roads leading to most homes are dirt and rock and lead to dead ends. Fun with the Jeep and at times you need 4 wheel drive to get there.
We had lunch at our favorite restaurant yesterday. We like getting a bottle of Mexican Coke (the real thing) but yesterday they ran out and we had to settle for American Coke, bummer. We did have a visitor from the local Road Runner at lunch. You don't usually get this close.
Been a bright beautiful full moon out the last two nights with temperatures dropping to 48 degrees at night and highs reaching 75 during the day. As we walked around the park Friday evening there was a coyote walking about 75 feet from us and in the same direction, maybe he wanted to make friends with Buddy.
We had planned to stay here for 30 days but extended it to 51 days since we could stay in the same site. This will be our longest stay in one place. Check with us in 48 days to see how it was.
