We ended our stay in Zion last Sunday after a week of mostly rain. Luckily the river did not overflow and we did not have to make ready to exit the park, thank God.
We were going to head to Mt. Pleasant, Utah but because of potential snow and very cold weather we canceled that reservation and just headed 30 minutes from Virgin to the Orchards RV Park. It sits along HWY 15 and is a new park. Upon arriving the managers said to swing wide when entering the site due to soft ground. Soft ground indeed; many sites had deep wheel tracks where a rig had been parked. I will bet they had to be pulled out. I did as told and got into our site which seem stable for the coach.
Utah has had record snowfall reaching at one location to 754 inches of snow. That's equivalent to 26.1 inches of rain. Their reservoirs are rising making everyone happy.
Last night the temp here dropped to 17 degrees and we had snow also. Guess we are still in Wisconsin. We will spend a week hanging out here and then, whether permitting, will head to Salt Lake City. Lower altitude and should be a little bit warmer.
Last week we did take a ride to Gunlock, Utah to see its' waterfall that only happens when they get the amount of rain we had the last several weeks. It took a little over an hour to get there but it was well worth the drive. For a Friday midday there were a lot of people at the falls.
This past Saturday we did one more road trip entering the south end of Zion. Significantly more snow than what we have seen on previous trips. More water running down the side of the mountain. We did stop and got a picture of a water fall that was not there on our last trip through.
This is our RV site at the Orchards RV Park. 1:30 PM 32 degrees, it's warmer in Kewaskum, WI. You can still see some of the snow on the side of the coach, from last night.
