We are currently in Study Butte, TX just outside of the Big Bend National Park. The weather here has been in the mid 70's during the day and in low 50's at night. Friday we packed a lunch and spent a couple of hours in the park with about 12 miles of dirt road leading to the Rio Grand River. We checked out the trails we planned to take the following day. A trail that we took several years back. This time we had a map and OnX OffRoad app to help guide us.

Saturday we got into the park around 8:45 am, before the park rangers even arrived. We drove for about 45 minutes to get to the start of the trail, however I missed my road and we ended up doing the trail in reverse. But before we got to the trail we wanted we had about 6 miles of dirt road to drive through; oh well!

We spent 5 hours and 33 minutes on the trail averaging about 10 miles and hour. We did meet up with other vehicles on the trail and quite a few campers boon-docking in the off-road camping areas.

Buddy spent most of the time on the floor behind Diane's seat; I think it is because he flew off once in the past when I took him on some rough roads. He only comes out when we slow way down or when it's time for lunch.

We spent over 7 hours in the park Saturday and it wasn't until we were almost 50 miles into our adventure that we spotted any wild life. We came across a coyote standing alongside the road. We stopped and he ran off to the side but did not go far. We were able to slowly drive up and take his picture. He went up the embankment and stood broad side as if he wanted his picture taken.

Sunday we stayed around the campground as I developed a sore throat and wasn't feeling up to anything.

Today we headed into Terlingua  for lunch at La Posada Milagro, and a short drive. Also had to stop and pick up lottery ticket so we can win the Billion Dollars :)

On a previous stop to buy a lottery ticket, the nice gentleman behind the counter talked me into buying a $60 bottle of tequila, said it was very smooth, instead of "steamed", it is "aged in oak barrels" for at least two years. And he suggested we try it with pineapple juice, so we had it solo at first, then with pineapple juice. Good both ways. He was right, it was very smooth.
