After Porter, OK we headed to Hugo, OK to check out the Mt. Olivet cemetery. Diane wanted to go there for the section titled "Showmen's Rest", where many circus performers are. Hugo, OK is a popular winter headquarters for traveling circuses since the 1940s, earning the nickname "Circus Town, USA". Once there we circled the cemetery several time but decided not to risk going into the cemetery. The entry arch did not seem high enough to get under. Our next stop was about 60 miles away so we decided to get set up and return if we had time.

In Durant,OK we stayed at a Core of Engineering park. Less expensive and always beautiful parks. Your tax money at work. The weather was still cold with highs in the low 40's  during the day and in the 20's at night. Our first walk around the park kicked up four deer. These COE Parks are always located around lakes. There were several die-hard fishermen out on the lake each day.

At first look we thought it may be and Eagle but it was just a duck :)

We did take the Jeep back to Hugo to check out the Mt. Olivet cemetery. 7500 people lying here with many circus performers and rodeo stars are buried here. They also have a large baby and veterans area. Here are some of pictures of what we found.

In addition, we found Buster Brown's grave. If you remember he and his dog was the figure head of Buster Brown Shoes back when I was growing up. His real name was William Edmond Ansley.

In the shape of a shoe.

After leaving Durant we made our way to Grapevine, Texas. We stayed at the Vineyards RV Resort which circled Grapevine Lake. This is a huge park within the city. Maybe 100 sites laid out for easy access for big rigs.

We were only a mile for Old Town Grapevine which was decorated for Christmas. We visited Old Town several time to check out the shops, have dinner and take in the Christmas Tree lighting. The entire street was closed off for the the Tree Lighting with lots do do for kids. Bouncing houses lined the center of the street along with food trucks. Seemed like thousand of strollers to navigate around.

We were able to hook up with Ginny for dinner on our last day. Ginny lives in Fort Worth and is one of our Spartan Classmates that we see every August when we converge at Spartan in Charlotte, MI.

Today we are in Fentress, TX at the Leisure RV Resort. This is a work in progress RV Resort. They are significantly expanding the park which is located along a beautiful section of river. However, the driveways are pot hole infested, sites are narrow and there is a lot of mud. The fact that it is supposed to rain for 3 days isn't helping either.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. This is our traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The turkey was waiting in the freezer for a year because we did not travel last year. Still tasted great along with all the other dishes.
