Happy Easter

Another week has gone by quickly. We were at Whispering Hills Campground near Georgetown, Kentucky for a week and are now at a KOA near Horse Cave, Kentucky.

Georgetown was, like most Kentucky cities, historic. Old beautiful buildings dot the landscape. We walked around downtown one morning but most places, even thought they were to be open, were closed. We did have lunch at a local restaurant on main street and walked around the old Jail that was used up until the early 90's.

We drove up to Williamstown to visit the Ark Encounter park. I had been there about 6 months after it opened in 2016 and was one of only a few people in the entire Ark. I have pictures inside with nobody in the halls. A lot different this time around. We were there on Monday, of Easter Week, and it was packed. We spent several hours walking around inside on each floor looking at various exhibits.

Outside there was a small zoo but most of the animals were not out. Only one eating place was open and there was a line to get in so we left and headed back to the RV. The outside of the Ark is showing signs of weathering as the wood is much darker than it was when I was there last. Even the wood beams and pillars inside are cracking or splitting.

We drove around the country on narrow roads and saw a lot of horses, as Kentucky is the horse capital. We also saw a couple of camels by one farm. On our last evening there we stopped by Babe's BBQ for dinner. Small interesting place with great food. Menu on white boards hanging on the wall. Place order at counter and find a table. They did bring our dinner which was Texas toast with mashed potatoes, beef pattie & beef gravy over everything, delicious!

We also visited the Buffalo Trace Distillery and picked up a couple bottles of bourbon. We had Buddy along but he doesn't do well with a lot of people and loud noises. They just let you wonder around outside their facilities and through their gift shop. Very unorganized. But we went for the booze and left with some.

Here at Horse Cave, Kentucky we took a drive up to Bardstown  to visit the 1792 Barton Distillery another bourbon manufacturing company. We are in the middle of the Bourbon Trail. We were there to pick up some Chocolate Liquor for Brian. I did got some Bourbon for myself also. We will be going back on Monday for a tasting. You have to register on-line for the tasting because of covid. It's OK that we have to go back and sample as we may end up purchasing a bit more.

View looking out our window. The covered wagons are popular at campgrounds around Kentucky.
